Frequently Asked Questions
DOES THE HOLD ME TIGHT WORKSHOP ACCOMPLISH THE SAME THING AS COUPLE’S THERAPY?
While you are not required to be actively participating in couple’s therapy to attend the workshop, it is not meant to replace couple's or individual therapy.
YOU MENTIONED DISCUSSIONS. ARE WE GOING TO BE ASKED TO PARTICIPATE IN GROUP DISCUSSIONS?
Nope. At Northwest Couples, you will never be put on the spot. There will be no blaming or shaming. You will not be asked to share anything that you don’t want to share. The workshop is presented in an atmosphere of safety, understanding, and validation. There will be opportunities to have private discussions with your partner to explore negative interaction cycles, thoughts, emotions and needs the two of you have.
YOU MENTIONED INTIMACY AND SEX. HOW DOES THIS PERTAIN TO THE NORTHWEST COUPLES HOLD ME TIGHT WORKSHOP?
We will be discussing how a deeper connection with your partner can enhance the sexual aspects of your relationship – creating secure sex. There will not be any sexual exercises or graphic video presentations.
WHAT ABOUT LODGING?
This workshop is within the Seattle metropolitan area. It occurs during the day and is set up for you to sleep in your own bed. With that said, the Hilton has offered our participants a discounted price for their room.
WE MIGHT GET HUNGRY AND THIRSTY. WILL THERE BE FOOD AND BEVERAGES?
We attend to the mind body connection! We will provide thirst-quenchers such as tea, coffee, and water along with plenty of snacks to keep you focused and happy. Lunch is on your own.
IS THIS WORKSHOP APPROPRIATE FOR COUPLES IN CRISIS?
Every couple’s issues are unique. If you believe that you are in crisis, coping with an addiction (behavioral or substance-related), or struggling with domestic violence issues, please discuss with us at the time of registration. We can talk about whether the Northwest Couples Hold Me Tight Workshop is a good fit at this time. We want you to get the most out of your experience!
WHAT ABOUT PARKING?
There is ample parking.
WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?
If cancellation is made at least two weeks prior to the workshop date, a refund less $50.00 processing fees will be issued. Within two weeks of the workshop date, you have the option to transfer to any other workshop date within one year. If you choose to transfer to a different workshop date, you will no longer be eligible for a refund.
YOU MENTIONED CEU'S. WHAT ARE THOSE?
CEU's are continuing education units meant for mental health professionals. These are offered for a nominal additional fee if the weekend retreat is completed. Please know that while we offer CEU's for the retreat, this is not a training in how to use the EFT approach in your own therapy practice. However, it is invaluable for practicing therapy as an experiential training and the best self-care around.
